This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce this 17th day of
July, 1927, in accordance with request made by self and Mr.
Morton Blumenthal, at the office of Edgar Cayce, 115 West
35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va.

5:10 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. L.I., N.Y.
- 1. MHB: Now you will have before you the body of [39], present
in this room, and the enquiring mind of this body, who had
the dream I will give you during the course of the past six
years.
- At various times during the past six years the body
has experienced the following: Visualized airship heavier
than air, which collects its lifting and driving force from
the atmosphere by means of points on the top of it.
Underneath this machine there are apparently two heavy copper
bars running the length of it, having small points
underneath, which when charged with the force lifts the
machine from the air apparently neutralizing the force of
gravity. The machine was driven by the power streaming from
points attached to the rear.
You will give the
interpretation of this dream or vision, tell us if such a
machine is practical and if such a power is available, and
how such may be made. You will answer questions regarding
this.
- 2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [39], here.
With dreams and visions as come to individual, these are of
various classes and groups, and are the emanations from the
conscious, subconscious, or superconscious, or the
combination and correlation of each, depending upon the
individual and the personal development of the individual,
and are to be used in the lives of such for the betterment of
such individual.
- 3. In this vision, we find this emblematical condition being
presented to the entity. Not wholly a condition that may not
be made feasible, plausible, workable, or used in the
operation of man's endeavor; yet to the entity is as an
emblematical condition, with those of the conscious forces
using that which the mind has dwelt upon to show the higher
forces as are to be used by the entity in the spiritual,
mental, and physical development for same and as we see in
the various presentations of the vision, the slight changes
that occur in the make-up of the machine show the various
amount of endeavor within the mental forces of the entity to
gain the understanding of same; for, as is seen, there will
appear this same vision three other periods in the
development of the entity, and in each there will be seen
again changes as are to come in the entity's understanding of
the emanations, or the abilities of individuals to apply in
the life of an entity in material plane the various lessons
as are attained or gained from same. As is seen, all of the
power must come from above. The bars representing, then, as
the individual's foundation, upon which there is given the
lifting power of same to soar through the various fields of
knowledge in attaining the various points necessary for that
development and that understanding to apply such forces in
the material plane.
- Just as is seen in the various points
from the machine, shows that all force, while as of one, is
gained through the various sources and contacts as are made,
and is called in the material plane that of the environmental
forces, while in that of the hereditary forces is as that
left in the wake of the impelling force that drives the body
and the mind through those spaces necessary to make the
individual one in all of its applications in the various
fields of endeavor, whether studying the higher fields of
thought or in making the turns or curves in the various walks
of life, and in the individuals as the entity contacts from
time to time.
- 4. In the application of same as from the field of the purely
mechanical forces, these - as they are presented from time to
time - will bring to the knowledge of the individual that as
is necessary to bring about the changes in mechanical
appliance of that force known as the earth-side force as has
been applied in eons ago to those crafts that soared through
the ether. [See Life reading 39-2.]
- 5. Be satisfied with that attained from the experience, until
there is through a little here, a little there, line upon
line, precept upon precept - applying that already gained,
that more may be given unto thee.
- 6. Ready for questions.
- 7. (Q) The entity, then, may seek this source for further
information on coming experiences?
- (A) The entity may seek all sources - for, as is seen, there
are many points toward the heavens, as of the lifting power.
- The stability of self - as is set in those bars that lift or
parallel with the earth - must be kept in that brightness as
is seen, that there may be attained more power, more force,
in the applying in self that already attained.
- 8. (Q) That is all of the questions in this reading.
- (A) We are through with this reading for the present for
much may be given to the entity as respecting its (the
entity's) development, mentally, spiritually, physically.
Use that in hand - for the simple rod stretched over the
mighty sea became the power in the hands of him who walked
with the Creative Energy - God. The withered rod became the
budded almond in the hands of him who sought to know His
ways, and applied same in the life. Keep thine paths
straight. Walk in the shadow of His wing. Keep thine eyes,
thine heart, ever to that source from which emanates all
power that lifts man toward the Creator.
- 9. We are through with this reading.
- 2896-1 They appear rather to be natural consequences of
man's application of unseen laws. In the name Susosu. In
the experience the entity lost, and gained. Gained in the
ability to aid those that were persecuted by those that USED
such applications of the night side of life to their own
destruction, and to the confounding of those that did not
understand all its relations. Hence those forces of occult
and mysticism has its place in the entity's experience; yet
there must - to the entity - ever be a material basis of
application, whether for good or for personal gain.
- 137-38 The aeroplane had
been trying to hide behind its own smoke screen, but the fog
piercing lamp made it visible."
- (A) In this there is seen an answer to the desire as is
expressed and as has often been put into thought action -
the hindrances relating to such a light or lamp, for this
may be produced; yet there is with same those hindrances,
as is seen in fall of plane, for the refractory rays from
such a light would act upon objects on which the rays were
directed, in such a manner as to bring destructive forces
in many; yea MOST, movable objects. The success of such a
rays or light may be made perfect, when a better
understanding is gained of what may be termed the night side
of life, and this reference to same is as to this portion.
As how that light travels on the atomic forces as are
existent in the atmosphere, with fog or screen of smoke,
each presents a different atomic force. The night side, or
invisible side, which is meant by night, the abilities to
overcome with those rays as are found now in those invisible
forces to the naked eye in that of the ultra violet and the
red ray, raised to an nth degree in its brilliancy or
refractory effect, see? More of this later. [4/13/26 See

- 759-1 The entity in the
name Isoda, and there still may be found among those of the
entity's doings - among the records as made and kept through
the establishing of the school, or Islo as called then in
that period, that were placed among the effects of Araaraart
in the mount not YET uncovered. In that period the entity
gained as a servant. Lost as attempting to administer the
medicinal forces and learning as was gained in this Islo, or
school - for the entity attempted to apply that in the
material sense that were of the night side of life, or to
apply the forces of the night side to the spiritual needs,
and thus brought the first dissension after the
re-establishment of a union in that land.
- 13. In the influence in the present experience, there will be
found some understandings, some consternations, as to occult
and occult influences - yet these, as given, with the
ennobling influence in Jupiter and Venus, may bring renown,
fame, fortune, and gain to the SOUL of the entity, in the
study of those same tenets as were given in that period.
Love, then, and nobleness, then, are the elements of success
in the spiritual, mental, and physical life of this entity,
[759].
- 14. Keep thine self in the ways that go up to the mountains, and
not by the shadows of Armiza [?] [Amasa?] or into the tents
of Kishlan [?] [Cushan?]. Rather to the house of David
cling.
- 2223-1 18. One that will, in the application of self toward those
elements as pertain to the occult or the mysterious, gain
much for self. The study of the occult would bring greater
blessings than those of mystery, for these are to the entity
too easily allowed to slip into the night side of such
studies.
- 2223-1 22. In the one before this we find in the period when changes
came in that land now known as the Utah and Colorado country.
The entity [was] among those that dwelt in the land when this
was submerged through the upheavals caused in the northern
country. Then in the name Eili, and the entity lost through
this experience, being in that position of bringing upon
others those of condemnation, for the entity taught others to
apply the night-side of life - through trickery and through
soothsaying, counting of stones, of beads, of carvings.
Hence in the present urge we find the desire to know of such,
and the fear of the influence of charm, or of that that might
bring to others the thoughts of same. WELL that the entity
beware of same, and - as given - study the occult, rather
than the mystery side of earth's experience.
- 302-1 9. One naturally capable of getting into the minutest detail
of any proposition, condition or circumstance presented to
the entity, and those conditions as pertain to the mystery
- or the night side of life - are as the open book to the
mind of the entity.
Well, then, that the entity use that
will in the way that brings developments for self and for
the ENTITY in the proper way and proper channel, using the
correct criterion, the correct measure - for with what
measure ye mete it shall be measured to YOU again, and with
what understanding ye use self or others with that same rod
will the understanding be measured to YOU.
- 427-3 9. One that must ever keep the highest forces before self as the
criterions of success, whether in social, business, mental,
or spiritual relations, for one that - were [if] the mental,
physical or moral self [were] shaken in purport - would find
it all too easy to slide into the night-side, or the weaker
sides of life and earthly experiences.
- 10. One that may be loved into the better conditions, or may be
persuaded into the weaker conditions.
- 11. One that, then, should keep self in that place or position
wherein the highest forces in life may be applied in the
assistance of others.
- 2750-1 15. In the one before this we find in that land known as the
Atlantean. In that period, the entity then among those of
the princess of the land, and the RULER in the Poseida, in
the city called that of the Gate of Gold. The entity then
gained and lost through this experience. In the name Ameeel.
In this experience the entity found MUCH that were of the
forces as apply in that called the night-side, or the
negative side of life. The forces as being positive and
negative became to the entity, in the application in the
latter period, negative in their results. Hence the
consternation and the destruction that ensued in the second
generation from the entity's experience IN the earth's plane.
In the present there is seen for the entity, that all must
ever have a material standard, for which mental or spiritual
forces, or elements, may be measured by. Not a materialist,
no; but the entity REASONS rather from that, that it must be
a material MANIFESTATION of some ELEMENT that may be
expressed IN the mental or the spiritual sense.
- 16. In the abilities of the entity and that to which it may
attain in the present - in the whole summing, as has been
seen, that builded in that when service was rendered to
others, there came the development; when it was used in
aggrandizement of self's interests, whether of this, that or
of those that brought consternation, even to others, there
came those periods of discontent. To bring, then, that to
which is of the nature that is of self-centered, is to bring
self destruction forces within the development of self's OWN
applications TO that as may be leading toward or from the
Creative forces within each entity's being; for an entity,
being the portion of the Creative Energy, either develops
same to or FROM that center from which IT reflects or
radiates its own INFLUENCE, power, or its ability of
application OF that force or power that may be manifested
through same, and the power manifested is the reflection of
the entity's own application of in that thought, in that
BEING within, reflecting that held as its criterion.
- 17. In the present, then, there may be developed in self that
which will bring to self the better application of those same
forces as manifested, either in the peacemaker - or in the
Trojan influence - or as those in the positive and negative
forces as come from or through the cosmic influences in the
life of an individual. In HARMONIZING, in crystallizing, the
influences OF OTHERS' experience, and using that of self to
influence those to apply self in the aid to others. Ready
for questions.
- 2856-1 9. In the one before this we find in that period known as the
Atlantean. The entity then among those peoples who gained
much understanding of the application of the night-side of
life, or of the negative influences in the earth's spheres of
those who gave much understanding in the manner of
transmission of sound, voice, picture, and such, to the
peoples in the period, using same to self's own destruction;
for the entity gained a high position during this experience,
and in the Sacred City of Peos (?) the entity RULED with an
UNLIMITED power; yet to self's and to soul's own undoing. In
the NAME Sonl. In the present, the abilities to see, vision,
and to work out in mechanical form; also to see through those
of the IDEAS as may have to do with mechanics and with the
developments of same for man's own use. In these lines the
abilities lie in the entity.
- 10. As to the application, as to whether these are for the
building up or the undoing of man's own self, will the entity
gain or decrease in its present experience.
- 2897-1 20. In the one before this we find in that land now known as the
Atlantean, or in Poseida, and in the city then of Achaei [?]
the entity ruled in pomp, power, and in the understanding of
the mysteries of the application of that often termed the
night side of life, or in the applying of the universal
forces as understood in that period. The ENTITY used them
for aid. Many of the subjects (and [this was] the
overthrowing of the entity) used them in the destructive
influences.
- 5332-1 21. (Q) Is this what is known as cosmic power, known then as
the "night side of nature"?
- (A) Known then as the realms from the light.
- 22. (Q) How can it be applied to Aluminum?
- (A) Is this correct in asking? Is this not selfish? When
ye have attained to the understanding "For others Lord," we
will help.
- 2419-1 38. The entity was among the Atlanteans born in that land, and
grew in strength, in power, in ability to aid others. For,
we find that the entity attempted to reconstruct for many of
those peoples the various manners of conveniences through
the use of the unseen powers or forces, - or the chemical,
gas AND electrical energies.
- 364-6 [Atlantis 52,000 bce]Then with the breaking up,
producing more of the nature of large islands, with the
intervening canals or ravines, gulfs, bays or streams, as
came from the various ELEMENTAL forces that were set in
motion by this CHARGING - as it were - OF the forces that
were collected as the basis for those elements that would
produce destructive forces, as might be placed in various
quarters or gathering places of those beasts, or the periods
when the larger animals roved the earth - WITH that period of
man's indwelling.
- 364-6 10. (Q) Describe one of the ships of the air that was used
during the highest period of mechanical development in
Atlantis.
- > (A) Much of the nature, in the EARLIER portion, as would be
were the hide of MANY of the pachyderm, or elephants, many
into the CONTAINERS for the gases that were used as both
lifting and for the impelling of the crafts about the various
portions of the continent, and even abroad. These, as may be
seen, took on those abilities not only to pass through that
called air, or that heavier, but through that of water - when
they received the impetus from the NECESSITIES of the peoples
in that particular period, for the safety of self. The shape
and form, then, in the earlier portion, depended upon which
or what skins were used for the containers.
- The metals that
were used as the braces, these were the COMBINATIONS then of
what is NOW a lost art - the TEMPERED brass, the temperament
of that as becomes between aluminum (as now called) and that
of uranium, with those of the fluxes that are from those of
the COMBINED elements of the iron, that is carbonized with
those of other fluxes - see? These made for lightness of
structure, non-conductor OR conductors of the electrical
forces - that were used for the IMPELLING of same, rather
than the gases - which were used as the lifting. See?
- For that as in the NATURE'S forces may be turned into even the
forces OF that that makes life, as given, from the sun rays
to those elements that make for, or find CORRESPONDING
reaction in their APPLICATION of same, or reflection of same,
TO the rays itself - or a different or changed form of
storage of FORCE, as called electrical in the present.
- 195-70 That is, the container - you can get it here - a container in which a vacuum may be
made must be of such a CONDENSED element as to prevent ether from going
through the atomic forces of the element itself, as is seen in that of an electric bulb -
this is NOT a vacuum, only a portion! To the finite mind this is CONSIDERED as
such, but were the same character - or these same conditions produced in a DIFFERENT
way - THEN these may be made to BECOME an element that would act in that way
and manner, see? As is seen at present, helium becomes the greater usage in containers
that may be made; yet these THEMSELVES (This is working from the opposite side,
see?) - but were those gases, or those metals used that the supply of helium itself becomes
the container FOR the vacuum itself. see? this condensed, see? into a metal form, THEN
the vacuum may be made that would lift without being lifted, see?
